We have come a long way since 1844 when vulcanised rubber was invented that is used in tyres today. Given the rise of road rage incidents and unfortunate accidents, it has become necessary to remain mindful while traveling. Travel mindfulness begins with being aware of safety measures associated with our vehicles. This is a dedicated page on caring for vehicle tyres.
-
Tyre Pressure
Ensure maximum tyre health by checking the tyre pressure every 15-odd days. Proper tyre pressure offers optimum traction and control. Tyres should never be under-inflated or over-inflated. under -inflated tyres cause damage, increase in fuel consumption and adverse vehicle cornering. Over-inflated tyres expedites tyre wear and tear, leads to frequent punctures and blowouts, and serious braking issues.
-
Tyre Check
Have a schedule to get the tyres inspected by local mechanics for damage and tear. Ride at moderate speeds when the tyre is new to avoid lean angles. Do not accelerate and brake rapidly. Similar logic is applicable with tyre valves. Valves develop cracks with usage and periodic checking is required to identify cracks. Ensure the valve cap is there at all times.
-
Overload
Do not drive your vehicle with overload. Overloading can cause tyre failure and lead to personal losses. Be aware of the maximum load the tyres in the vehicle can handle and do not exceed the mark.
Adequately maintained tyres last longer. When the tyres fulfill its purpose, replace it with from a verified vendor.
